Baked Potato Soup

Didn't get a picture because my boys scarfed it up so fast, but I made an insanely yummy baked potato soup tonight. It was a great night for it...cold and overcast

Here's the recipe....

4 large baked potatoes, peeled and cubed
2/3 C. butter
2/3 C. flour
7 C. milk
4 green onions, sliced
1 1/4 C. grated cheese
8 oz. sour cream
1 lb. bacon, fried and crumbled
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper

In a large pot, melt butter. Stir in flour. With a wire whisk, stir in milk until well combined. Add potatoes and onions. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer on low for 10 minutes. Stir in remaining ingredients and serve.

This makes a ton of soup which I look forward to eating tomorrow for lunch :0)
Enjoy everyone!

OH MY GOODNESS!

I'm not even going to try and play catch up here! Suffice it to say I have been extremely busy and will try to do better and post some things to show you what I have been up to!

I will show you these cuties! Above are cupcakes in a jar that I made for the 4th! The kids loved these and they weren't too hard to make. I will post instructions soon!

I had leftover cake from the cupcakes in a jar so I took it and made some cake pops for each of my siblings families! I think they turned out pretty cute.

farm cake

Recently I made this cow cake for a little boy's birthday.

The customer also ordered some cupcake toppers made out of fondant to go on the cupcakes

I thought they turned out pretty cute so I thought I'd share!

Gift Box Cookies

I made these for my Young Women's lesson I taught on Sunday. It was entitled Preparing to Become an Eternal Companion. I talked to the girls about not only being able to present their future husband with a beautiful package on the outside, but with delightful gifts inside them...learning to Love with a Christ-like love, Serving, becoming productive, being happy and most importantly, keeping themselves morally pure. To see more pictures of these cookies and how I bagged and tied them , visit my other blog.

Luvs,

Snow Trip

Went on my first day trip with the youth on Saturday! It was fun...cold, but fun!

They are such a good group of kids!

There was sledding...

snow ball fights...

making of snowmen...

It was fun! This is one of my darling counselors Savanna!

Group Shot...which I was taking (funny how that always seems to happen, not that I'm complaining) This isn't even close to all of the pictures that were taken, but I can only post so many! Thanks for a great first trip you all!

Birthday Boy!

Today is my hubby's birthday! He is 31....and one of the best men I know.
I love him for so many reasons. He is loving, caring, hard-working, funny, intelligent, giving, frugal, happy, sexy, adventurous, a good father, a wonderful husband.

He makes me feel like a queen, a goddess, an equal, a woman.

He brings me joy, happiness, love, peace, safety. He is a worthy priesthood holder, a patriarch to our little family.

He magnifies his callings and helps me magnify mine. He inspires me, lifts me up, gives me strength to keep going even when I think I can't. He's fun to be with, laugh with, talk to and I can't believe he is all mine!
Honey, I hope you have a wonderful birthday! I love you!

Article of Faith Board

In Young Women's this year the theme is the 13th Article of Faith which says,

We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say we follow the admonition of Paul - We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy we seek after these things.

I wanted to make the girls something that would help them remember all of the key points, something that would remind them to be all of the things that the Lord wants them to be.

I saw this idea on Sugardoodle and just HAD to recreate it. Thanks to the help of my amazing sister (she has a vinyl cutter) I was able to make one for each of my girls! I think it turned out darling and I think the girls really loved getting one of these for their rooms!

Valentine Wreath

Cute right? You can make one too...it is super easy.

Start with a heart shaped container. You could use a shallow heart box, this one is a serving dish I found at Michael's. It was $5.99 but with my 40% off coupon...it ended up being only $3.60+tax.

You'll also need coffee filters. These are super cheap too. They come in a package of 100 for like $1.50. I used the tan color, but you could also use the white. You'll also need a hot glue gun and any embellishments like lace and crepe paper to add some pizazz.

Start by making your florets out of the coffee filters, you'll need a good amount. I think I ended up using about 75-80. Simply flatten the coffee filter out, put a "glob" of hot glue in the center, fold it in half and then in half again and hold it together until the glue sets a little.

Like so....until you get a big pile....

Then simply start hot gluing them into the base of your heart tray/box until the entire thing is filled with your florets.

I wanted to add a little more to it, so I got some lace from Hobby Lobby, and hot glued it around the outer rim of the tray.

I then took some crepe paper and glued that around it as well. You'll want to kind of crimp as you go so it will give both the lace and the crepe paper a ruffled effect.

If you want to add a little more pizazz you can add some paper flowers. I used cupcake liners, the extra lace and the crepe paper to make mine, add a little pearl button in the center and you have some cute flowers to add to your wreath.

Then you can simply attach some ribbon to the back and hang!
Isn't it delicious!? The best part is it only cost me about $7.00. I just love it....haven't started decorating for Valentine's Day just yet, but I can't wait to put it up!

I've entered this project into Crafting With the Stars....go check it out.
