Happy Birthday Denise

Today is my mother-in-law, Denise's birthday. There are so many things that I love about this woman and I look up to her in many ways. I just wanted to take this opportunity to talk about some of her amazing qualities.

First and foremost, I have never met a woman more giving and helpful then Denise. I have not had one Enrichment activity, Scentsy event, business venture, or any other activity that I have been a part of, that Denise has not been right there to help me out with. One phone call to Denise, and she is making calls to her contacts, helping me gather up things that I might need, watch my children if I need it, or just be there to bounce ideas off of. But, she's not just like this with me because I am her daughter-in-law. She's like this with EVERYONE! And she doesn't do it for the recognition or to get something in return. She genuinely wants to help people and do all that she can. I love this quality and wish that I myself could bottle some of that generosity.

Another wonderful trait about Denise is what a wonderful Grandmother she is to my children. Gavin adores her and asks for her regularly. There have been many times that Denise has called up and asked to take Gavin out for a few hours...not necessarily to help me out (although it does give me a nice little break), but just because she wants to spend time with him. I love that she gets down and plays with my kids, spoils them and makes them feel so loved. I am not sure what I am going to do without her here for the next year and half....Gavin will miss her so much.

Denise is THE best mother-in-law any girl could ask for. I receive, although it isn't necessary, many little gifts, decorations for the holidays and invitations to movies and shopping excursions. I enjoy the time we spend together and feel so blessed to have her in my life. The little acts of service and kindness are endless and I appreciate them so much. I am so grateful that I have married into such a wonderful family and especially to have this wonderful woman as my mother-in-law!

Happy Birthday Denise!

A Little Perverse....

I was in my room working on the computer and talking to Maren this morning. Unbeknownst to me, Gavin had walked in, gotten into my nightstand drawer, pulled out a "rubber", unwrapped it, and came up to me holding it high for me to see..."mommy, mommy, mommy," he says. I look over and he says, "Mommy, this will make you happy!" A little horrified, but unable to keep myself from busting out laughing, I grab it from him and tell him he is not to play with that.
I told you it was a little perverse!

Side Note: He has been coming up to me all day asking for his yellow circle!

Names

I had to share this funny anecdote. The other day I asked Gavin if he could tell me what his full name was. He replied with, "Gavin Maxwell Heap." Pretty good huh? Well, I then asked him what his little brothers name was. His reply, "Baby Hayden Fleo Heap." Close...my name? "Mommy Diana Heap." Daddy? "Daddy Justin Heap."
I laughed pretty hard....he's getting there!

Book Review

I just finished reading this book. Justin happened to go to the library one afternoon and thinking of me, picked this up for me. It was a fairly easy read...it only took me about 3 hours. I really enjoyed it, but upon completion, I realized that it was in fact part of a trilogy and I didn't have the rest of the books to read...pretty frustrating!
But, my hero, just walked in bearing the other two books in hand! ( quite literally, I was sitting here typing this post and he walked through the door) I will let you know how it turns out!

Green Eggs and Ham

I know that I have told many of you this already, but Gavin has become obsessed with Dr. Seuss. Even his speech has become Seussical in a way.

One night at dinner time, Gavin was being more then reluctant to eat his dinner and I kept telling him that he needed to sit down and eat. Finally, after the 5th or 6th nagging, Gavin looks at me and says, "Mom, if you let me be, I will try it, you will see." Laughter insued, He then tried a bite and proceeded to say, "Say, I like my dinner, I do." More laughter...that kid remembers everything!!

Thank you!

It's that time again, when I become a single parent for a month and I'm lonely and bored and need some adult interaction. So, last night, I decided to head over to mom's and see what was up over there. After checking out what was being sold on QVC, mom turned the channel to Dancing With the Stars. The dancers were doing well, but Gavin took the spotlight when he started his "He's a maniac" dance and when the music stopped and the t.v. audience started clapping, Gavin proceeded to bow and say, "Thank you, thank you!" We were laughing our heads off! I love my little man.
