Candy Corn Wreath

I saw this idea in a magazine and knew I just had to replicate it. Other then taking a bit of time, it is super simple to make and I love how it turned out.
You start with a 16" Styrofoam wreath. I got mine at Michael's with a 40% off coupon which makes it $5.40

And black Duct Tape. You simply wrap the wreath with the duct tape making sure it overlaps and is fairly smooth. Then you simply start gluing your candy corns (I used Brach's but I am sure you can find a generic brand which would make the cost cheaper) on going in a reverse pattern for each row. I laid mine out first. It takes some extra time, but you'll get a better end result. Now I used about 2 1/2 bags only because I was trying to fish out the candy corns that had all three colors...if you don't care, you will definitely use less.

Then simply attach a nice silk ribbon I used 1 yard, about 1 1/2" wide, and I got at Hobby Lobby for $1.40. Tie a pretty bow and you have a gorgeous festive wreath to hang on your front door or anywhere you like.

All together I would say it cost me about $10.00.
Not too bad...plus I have the satisfaction of know I made it.
Love it!!!

Stay away from the generic corn! Use Brach's. The generic (which I tried to make this with) didn't look as nice and gave the wreath more of a cheap look. So i have to start all over. Great job yours looks fantastic!

How funny . . . We are related ~ I made one too. Isn't that funny? I'm going to cover mine with Modpodge stuff so that I can store it later.

So cute! Reminds me of something my roommate made one time. She had a square vase and filled it 3/4 way with candy corns and put fake autumn looking flowers in it. So cute!!

I made a couple for my double front doors and they turned out so cute. I sprayed them with a sealer because here in So. California we have crap load of ants and I was hoping to keep them out. They were doing great in our warm dry weather, but then a few days ago, the weather changed and its cool and rainy. And my adorable wreaths are dripping sugary liquid all down my door and the ants are having a heyday!! Sadly, I couldn't take it anymore and I tossed the wreaths and scrubbed down the doors....sigh...they were so cute while they lasted. I'm going to try to find plastic candy corns and make them again next year!

I love this site heapology.blogspot.com. Lot of great information. I am Tech guy. I have been a Desktop Technician since 1997 but have tons of other interests. In my spare time... Oh, wait I don't have any of that (just kidding). Anyways, I have been aware of this website for quite some time and decided to join the community and contribute as well as learn a lot from others. I am excited to get started on the forum and am looking forward to a great journey together. Lots of potential friends and I look forward to meeting many online.
