Can we say "obsessed"

Don't know if you know this but Gavin is obsessed with space. He draws pictures of all the planets, he makes the planets out of play-dough, he sings songs about them, and talks about them incessantly. Well Justin stumbled upon this picture and showed it to "the vins".

A little while later Gavin came and found us and said he had something to show us in the kitchen.

He said he wanted to make the planets like in the picture daddy had shown him so he cracked an egg and rummaged around in the pantry for the rest of the stuff....luckily he was smart enough to do it all on a cookie sheet.

Yet another cake

I don't even know why I'm posting this...I guess for posterity. It didn't turn out at all like I wanted....it was a hot day and I don't have one of those nifty refrigerated vans like on Cake Boss, so during transport the fondant started sliding and I didn't have any means to really fix it.
Anywho, this is a cake I made for my nephew Blake. He turned one on the 6th and this cake was made to look like the invitation to his party.

There you have it....I really am going to have to figure out a better transportation system, any thoughts???

"It's A Me, Mario!"

My nephew Collin's birthday was last week and I was a schlub and missed it. So, last Friday I decided to do something special for him. He really likes Mario Brothers and so I made him some cupcakes.....

It was so much fun cutting out all the characters. It really took me back to my childhood. I was at work when Justin took them over, but he said that when he showed up Collin was playing, you guessed it, Super Mario Brothers....awesome. I hope he enjoyed them.

4th of July Fun

I love 4th of July. Next to Halloween and Christmas it is my favorite holiday. I love the family barbeque, the swimming, the sparklers, the fireworks, the home-made ice cream....it's awesome.
Here are just a few pics of the kiddos....I think I was too busy having fun to take many pictures so this is all I got.

These are the cupcakes I made for the 4th....I think they turned out pretty cute.

Liberty Banner

This all started with a "Spooky" banner my mother-in-law made me for Halloween. She had taken a class from a gal named Melissa I believe. She teaches at the Scrapbook Barn here in Mesa and she does these adorable holiday banners. Well, I wanted one for 4th of July. She happened to do a class for one.....last year. So I went online to Scrapbook Barn and scoured their posts for past classes and found a picture of hers and set about to duplicate it. I did some of the same things that she did, but I also put my own spin on it. She used really cute papers for hers, but I didn't feel like they were with the 4th theme....they were mostly just red white and blue papers with just about anything on them...I wanted mine to look more 4th of July-ish. So directly below are the pics of her banner (sorry the pic off their site wasn't spectacular) and the below hers is mine.

I love love love how it turned out. I also made one for my mother-in-law (ya know to return the favor) and got my mom and sisters on board and we all made one together for a girls craft night. My next project is to create a "CELEBRATE" banner to put up on my kids birthdays....my sisters want in on that one too. Should be fun.

**BTW- I just got the hutch that this banner is hanging from and haven't quite figured out what I want to put on the shelves yet....looks a little weird now. If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them.**

Twins

So I went to make eggs this morning for the boys and when I cracked the first egg open this is what came out....

Pretty crazy huh? I have never seen such a thing....any of you have any weird egg stories?

**I realize that by titling my post "twins" may have freaked some of you out....sorry, no announcements regarding that department to make as of yet**

Looking for Cookie Cutters?

I just found this really great site called America Tradition Cookie Cutters. I probably spent way more then I should...but they have some adorable cookie cutters. They even have weekly deals and sets that you can buy for a much cheaper price then buying individually.
I bought this set and I am so excited about using them for my boys.

Go check them out.
