We celebrated Gavin's birthday with my family this past Sunday and we combined the party with his cousin Brigham. Brigham is just 5 days younger than Gavin and lucky for us....Brigham is not picky about what kind of cake he gets.
Of course I did a space cake with all of the planets.

Taking out all the candles, we did 6 for each of them to blow out so 12 in all.
Here are just some close ups of some of the planets. I might add that all of these I hand painted on fondant to make look like the planets.
This one is Jupiter, for those of you who didn't know. I think this one is my favorite. I love how it turned out.
Gavin loved this cake and it was definitely a labor of love. By the way if you are wondering how I got the frosting so black. I use Americolor Gel Super Black and I start with a chocolate frosting base. It is a lot easier to get your black super black doing this.
